The Charlotte Headache Center is the first headache and migraine treatment facility of it’s kind in the state of North Carolina. Founded in 2011, we use groundbreaking treatment technologies to give patients long-standing relief from a broad range of head and jaw pain problems. Unlike traditional medicine, our treatment plans are designed to get patients off of drugs used to treat their pain and headaches.
Dr. Robert Harrell, founder of Charlotte Headache Center, is a well-respected 15 year veteran of dentistry in Charlotte, NC. For many years, headache and jaw pain patients had always been unique patients to treat. Many came with the same set of symptoms and had been bounced around to numerous specialists for treatment without success. Traditional dental treatments would work in a few cases, but for many patients, their suffering continued. Because of this, most dentists like to avoid treating these patients.
In an effort to help the growing number of headache and jaw pain patients, Dr. Harrell began a quest to find additional treatment modalities to treat these patients. His advanced training in treating TMJ/TMD problems had been helping numerous patients, but it was not until he began to incorporate cutting edge technologies from neuromuscular sports medicine and physical therapy of the TruDenta system that the real success stories began to emerge.
After treating numerous patients with great success, it became clear that demand for this treatment would be significant. As a result, Dr. Harrell founded the Charlotte Headache Center as an offshoot of his already successful general dental practice, Adult Dentistry of Ballantyne. Plans are currently underway to expand the Charlotte Headache Center into its own separate location.
Meet Dr. Robert Harrell
As a young man, there were two things that became core components of the person I am today. One was my love of people. Getting to know, understand and build relationships. Understand the thoughts, intellect, feelings and emotions of other people. It became clear that I needed to find to way to serve and help others. Medicine would have been an easy choice.
But the other side of my brain wanted to design, build, and engineer things. I built my first model at age 4, built my first computer by age 10, and later moved on to woodworking and machinery. I also needed to make things … small things.
So, for me dentistry became the perfect blend for my desire to both help people and build and create.

Outside of the Office
I most enjoy spending time with my family. I am blessed to have a beautiful wife Lisa, and 3 amazing children. I also enjoy travel, photography and classic cars.
But still, whether in or out of the office, one of life’s real gifts is people. Everyday I get the joy of meeting new people, and every night I lie down knowing that I have truly helped my fellow man.
